B-ultrasonograph inspection can help the mother-to-be and the doctor know the development status of the fetus, therefore B-ultrasonograph inspection should not be rejected excessively.

How many times of B-ultrasonograph inspection  is the best?

1.  Pregnancy stage of 6-8 weeks: B-ultrasonograph inspection will be performed to determine intrauterine pregnancy and the gestational age.

2.  Pregnancy stage of 11-13+6 weeks: B-ultrasonograph inspection will be performed to determine whether a single fetus or multiple fetus. At the same time, the doctor can estimate the gestational age based on obstetric measurements and do some inspection in case of serious structural abnormalities like anencephalus and conjoined twin. The transparent layer thickness of the fetal neck is a sensitive index to screen chromosome abnormality cases like Down Syndrome. 62%-80% mongolism fetus has the sign of NT thickening (greater than 3mm).

3. Pregnancy stage of 20-24weeks: this is the ideal period for fetal malformation screening. The anatomic structure of the fetal has formed and can be displayed by ultrasound, the size of the fetal and amniotic fluid is moderate, and is less affected by the bone acoustic shadow, and the image is clear. Most of the fetal malformations can be determinded during this period. Accept a regular thoroughly inspection for the body structure of the fetal after being pregnant for 20-24 weeks and most of the obvious fetal abnormalities (such as anencephalus, encephalocele, open spina bifida, thoracoabdominal wall defect visceral eversion, single heart, fatal achondroplasia and other  abnormalities) can be found.

4. Pregnancy stage of 30-34 weeks: B-ultrasonograph ultrasound to reassess the development status of the fetal and to find abnormalities which can only be demonstrated until advanced stages of pregnancy. However, if the amniotic fluid is less than before and the fetal is growing bigger, the opportunities for changes in position is even less, so the chance to find an abnormal hiding by the fetus body is lower.

5. Pregnancy stage of 37 weeks later: accept B-ultrasonograph inspection to know the development status, the volume of amniotic fluid and the placenta calcification status, assessing the safety situation of the fetal within the uterus.
